Private Residence — Paardeberg

LOCATION Swartland

CATEGORY Architecture

Set at the foot of the Paardeberg mountain, this project presented a rare opportunity to design a new residence deeply rooted in the Swartland landscape. The architecture draws from traditional farmstead forms, reinterpreted through simple gabled volumes, sheltered stoeps and inward-looking courtyards. Thick plastered walls, arched thresholds and expressed roof structures give the house a sense of permanence and calm. Carefully framed openings respond to the surrounding fields and mountain slopes, allowing the home to sit comfortably within its agricultural setting while offering a contemporary expression of rural living.
